The primary reason for the 9.71 patch is due to reports from Hewlett-
Packard bubblejet printer users that the FASA-style record sheets do
not print completely. Most often, the armor and internal structure
damage bubbles are for some mysterious reason excluded. This patch has
been tested on a few HP printers with complete success, meaning
that the printouts now include everything that they should. |
|
When loading from ASCII .TXT technical readout save files, the weapons
and equipment may now be deleted one item at a time, instead of having
to be cleared all at once. |
|
The "Auto Alloc" feature for automatically allocating endo steel, ferro-
fibrous, and triple strength myomer critical slots now works properly
with quads. |
| Medium-Range missile racks are no longer identified by the program as being Artemis-IV capable. |
|
Along with certain fixes, there have been some new features added to
version 9.71: |
|
|
An addition has been made to the "Battle Value" dialog box. It is now
possible to specify the MechWarrior's piloting and gunnery
skills. When the skills are changed, the resulting modifiers to the
BattleMech's Battle Value are displayed as the "Final BV". When record
sheets are printed, the modified piloting & gunnery skills are included,
as is the new Battle Value. |
|
| There is now a "Preferences" dialog box, which is accessible from the "Options" pull- down menu. It gives you control over one display and two printing options. |
|
The first check box, "Toggle flashing Error Light" allows you to choose
between the familiar flashing error light, or a less obtrusive non-
flashing light. |
|
The second check box, "Print 'Roll Again' in empty critical slots" is a
printing option that, when checked, fills the empty record sheet
critical slots with "Roll Again" text. |
| The third option, "Alternate Printing" is a last resort for Hewlett- Packard printer users who for some reason still cannot print record sheets with the bubbles (despite the fix.) Try it out if your confounded HP printer continues to refuse to print the bubbles. Assuming that it works, your record sheets should look no different than the high-quality printout you would get if you had a real printer. |
| Many thanks to all of those who have e-mailed me with your rants and raves regarding BattleMech Designer. The fixes and additions described above are to a large degree responses to your valuable unput. I still would like to hear any more suggestions that you might have. Since the full-featured Tech Level 3 version is currently in the works, now is the time to e-mail me! Once again, thanks. |
