Since 3055, Bergan Industries has been attempting to
convert the Mercury BattleMech into a full-featured
OmniMech. The conversion process has been smoother
than is typical, because the Mercury was designed with
many modular features. The 'Mech retains its original
speed, but is still decidedly underarmed. Designers and
commanders alike consider this to be of little
consequence, as the 'Mech will almost exclusively be
used in a scouting role.
Though the primary configruation is the most common,
each of the other configurations has been spotted
frequently. Configuration D appears to be the rarest,
though it is reputedly a favorite of the Capellan Death
Commandos.
